Detroit Catholic Central's Class of 2030 walked through the Novi campus doors Friday, Aug. 14, as 309 freshmen drawn from 88 middle schools across 45 cities officially joined the Shamrock program.

Faculty and staff lined the entrance while the band played the school song as students arrived between 7:30 and 8 a.m., according to the school. The freshmen then gathered in the gymnasium to hear from administrators before beginning their first day on campus.

The numbers reflect a pipeline that's been building for years. More than 75% of the incoming class participated in a Catholic Central shadow day during the 2025-26 school year, and more than one-third were already Junior Shamrocks before arriving as freshmen.

The demand isn't slowing down.

More than 200 eighth graders have already submitted potential student forms for the Class of 2031, signaling record early interest. The Junior Shamrocks feeder program had roughly 750 participants last year with more than 275 already signed up for 2026-27.

"This is a great group of kids," Director of Admissions Jake Marmul said. "They work hard, they want to be here, and there are some great personalities. I can't wait for everyone to meet them."

Marmul, a 2007 Catholic Central graduate, oversees a recruiting operation that stretches well beyond Novi's borders. The 45-city footprint of this year's class underscores how far the school's reach extends across southeast Michigan.

Since members of the Class of 2030 were born, Catholic Central has won 48 state championships and 78 Catholic High School League titles. The freshmen have never known a year without a Shamrock Quiz Bowl state championship, and 78 students have earned National Merit Scholar recognition during that span.

For families considering Catholic Central for next year, Brothers Day is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27. Shadow days for prospective students begin Wednesday, Sept. 9, and the school's Open House is set for Sunday, Nov. 8.
