Downtown Northville's biggest arts weekend of the summer kicks off Friday, Aug. 14, when the Northville Art House Art Market takes over Center and Main streets for three days of Michigan artists, live demonstrations, food vendors and hands-on activities for families.

Hours vary by day. The outdoor fine art fair runs Friday from 3 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Michigan artists and out-of-state exhibitors will fill booths along both streets with original work. Visitors can watch live artist demonstrations, browse one-of-a-kind pieces and let kids try the interactive art activity tent, which includes face painting and hands-on art experiences.

Food vendors will be set up along the route. Adults can also take advantage of downtown Northville's Social District, known as "The Twist," which allows visitors to stroll the Art Market with a beverage within the designated boundaries.

The Northville Art House, a nonprofit at 215 W. Cady St., organizes the annual market. The group describes the event as transforming downtown Northville into an open-air gallery of work by artists from across the state and beyond, according to its event page.
