A 23-year-old Northville man went missing Saturday evening, Aug. 8, after witnesses saw him go underwater in Lake St. Clair and not resurface.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office Dive Team recovered the body of James "Jak" Kramer at approximately 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, ending a nearly two-day multi-agency search, according to MLive. WWJ Newsradio confirmed the recovery and timeline.

Macomb County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jennifer Putney said Kramer entered the water Saturday evening and witnesses reported he submerged and did not come back up. Authorities have not disclosed the specific location on the lake or what Kramer was doing when he went under.

The U.S. Coast Guard and St. Clair County Sheriff's Office Marine Division responded to the scene first after Kramer was reported missing. The Macomb County Sheriff's Office Marine Division followed, and the MCSO Dive Team was called in to assist, Putney said.

The search stretched from Saturday evening through Monday morning, spanning roughly 41 hours before the dive team located and recovered Kramer's body.

Foul play is not suspected, Putney said.

Putney extended the department's condolences to Kramer's family and friends in a statement Monday.

No official cause of death has been released, and the Macomb County Sheriff's Office has not announced any follow-up investigation or scheduled inquest. The specific hazards Kramer encountered in the water remain unknown.
