Families in Northville, Northville Township and Novi who have a child battling a life-altering or life-threatening condition can nominate that child for a fully paid Walt Disney World vacation this December.
Jay's Juniors, a metro-Detroit nonprofit founded in 2014 by Fox 2 Detroit morning anchor and 100.3 WNIC host Jay Towers, is accepting nominations through Oct. 18 for its annual group trip. Selected children, ages 3 to 17, and their entire families will travel together to Orlando, Florida, from Dec. 1-5.
The five-day, four-night trip covers airfare, airport parking, hotel rooms at Disney resorts, park admission, ground transportation, meals and spending money. The nonprofit charters a flight for the group, reported by Hoodline to cost approximately $200,000.
Since its founding, Jay's Juniors has sent more than 100 families on holiday-season Disney trips, according to Towers' Fox 2 biography. Towers created the program on WNIC with the goal of giving children a break from hospital stays and treatments.
"Watching them make new memories, share laughter, and enjoy experiences they may never have imagined, is the reason why I started Jay's Juniors," Towers said in a statement published Aug. 12.
Any family member or friend in the community can submit a nomination. Children must be between 3 and 17 years old and living with a qualifying medical condition. Full rules and criteria are posted at JaysJuniors.com.
