The second annual Shiny Rust Hot Rod Spectacular takes over the Vibe Credit Union Showplace in Novi on Saturday, Oct. 17, and Sunday, Oct. 18.
Hundreds of classic cars, hot rods, customs and drag cars are expected at the Grand River Avenue convention center at 46100 Grand River Ave., according to the organizer’s website. The show runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. General admission is $15 at the door. A two-day pass costs $20, and kids 12 and under get in free, according to MLive.
Beyond the vehicle displays, the weekend includes TV and movie cars, a live racing simulator, a pin-up contest and vendor booths.
Organizer Randy Adam told WDIV's "Live in the D" on Oct. 12 that the lineup spans "everything from classics to hot rods, to customs and drag cars."
WDIV’s preview featured a customized 1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle resembling a wind-up toy. A button raises the body to expose the mechanical components beneath it.
Adam said he wants the show to draw younger fans, too.
"We want to get the younger generation involved because we don't want them just, you know, worried about their Uber rides and things like that," he told WDIV.
Last year’s event was held Nov. 8–9 at the Oakland Expo Center in Waterford Township. The dates appear on the venue’s calendar. This year’s show moves to Novi.
The Novi venue was formerly known as the Suburban Collection Showplace.
The show’s website advertises advance tickets starting at $5. Check the ticket options for eligibility and any additional fees.
