Novi police are investigating after a 46-year-old man was found dead inside his home in the Oakland Glens Mobile Home Park on Monday, Aug. 31.

Officers were called to the 30000 block of Joliet near 13 Mile and Novi roads around 9:30 p.m. for a welfare check after the man failed to report to work, The Detroit News reported. Police entered the residence and found him dead. The man lived alone, and no one else was inside when officers arrived.

His name has not been released. No cause of death has been determined, and the Novi Police Department said in a Tuesday, Sept. 1, news release that the investigation continues with assistance from the Michigan State Police Crime Laboratory, according to FOX 2 Detroit.

The department also addressed social media reports that gunshots were heard in the Oakland Glens neighborhood on Saturday night, Aug. 29. Novi police said investigators have not confirmed that gunshots were fired or that the reports are connected to the man's death. The department said the claims do not align with the preliminary timeline of the investigation.
