Six-year-old Liam Malburg, a Northville boy reported missing after he was not returned for a custody exchange, has been found safe out of state.

Liam's father, Justin Malburg, said Monday night that his son had been found safe in Wyoming, WWJ Newsradio reported in an update Tuesday, Sept. 8. Malburg wrote on Facebook that an anonymous tip and a Wyoming police officer helped locate Liam, and that Wyoming's Department of Family Services was caring for the boy until Malburg's flight arrived so they could return home together. "Thanks to God, an anonymous tip, the sharpness of a Wyoming officer, and the countless amount of people who came together to help, my son has been found!" Malburg wrote. "He's safe and sound."

Neither the Northville Police Department nor the Oakland County Sheriff's Office has issued an official statement confirming the resolution or describing how Liam was recovered.

Liam was supposed to be returned to his father on Thursday, Sept. 3, but his mother, Marisa Calliea, 30, did not arrive for the scheduled custody drop-off, according to a Patch report citing the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Both the Northville Police Department and the Oakland County Sheriff's Office joined the search.

Calliea and Liam were last captured on a Flock camera in Northville on Saturday, Sept. 5, according to WWJ's earlier reporting. During the search, authorities described Calliea as approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 110 pounds. She was believed to be driving a black 2015–2019 GMC SUV. The public was warned not to approach Calliea or the vehicle and to contact law enforcement immediately.

Social media posts circulated by missing-persons groups stated that Calliea had an active bench warrant related to a prior incident. Those details have not been confirmed by an official law enforcement release.

No response from Calliea or a legal representative appears in public records as of publication. Neither agency has confirmed whether Calliea was taken into custody when Liam was found.
