For Northville residents living with memory or thinking changes, and the people who care for them, a free afternoon of music-making is on the calendar at the Northville Art House.
The nonprofit's Creative Connections Memory Café - Music session takes place Thursday, July 30, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at 215 W. Cady St. in downtown Northville. The program pairs socialization with a hands-on music workshop, gallery time, and refreshments.
The Art House describes its Memory Cafés as welcoming social gatherings where participants can talk with others who share similar experiences and try something creative in a low-key setting, according to its program page. The sessions are open to anyone experiencing changes in memory or thinking, along with their caregivers, family members, or friends.
Executive Director Shannon Karol oversees the program, which launched in January 2026 with funding from CultureSource, a Detroit-area arts organization. The grant covers all costs, keeping every session free to attend.
Two sessions each month
The Art House runs two Memory Cafés monthly under the Creative Connections banner: a visual arts session on Wednesdays and a music session on Thursdays. Each includes the same structure of refreshments, gallery exploration, and a workshop tailored to that month's theme.
The next music café after July 30 is scheduled for Thursday, August 27, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the same location.

The Northville Art House is located adjacent to the Northville District Library. Summer hours are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
