Dog owners in Northville can turn their pet's paw print into a framed keepsake painting next month, with proceeds funding art education for the community.
The Northville Art House will host its 6th annual Painting with Paws on September 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 215 W. Cady St. in downtown Northville. During the event, artists on-site take a print of each dog's paw and use watercolors to transform it into a finished piece of art, according to the Art House's event page.
Owners can pick up their completed painting roughly 30 minutes after the paw print is taken.
How to register
Pre-registration costs $25 per dog and is open through September 18, at 11:59 p.m. Owners can register up to five dogs per form at northvillearthouse.org/paintingwithpaws. Day-of registration on September 19 costs $30 per dog.
Where the money goes
All proceeds benefit public art education programs at the Northville Art House, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The organization, led by Executive Director Shannon Karol, runs year-round programming including a youth art fair, family days, community art workshops, and cemetery tours.
The Art House is also seeking volunteers for the event. Those interested can sign up at northvillearthouse.org/volunteer.
