Three Northville-area student-athletes at Kalamazoo College earned spots on the 2025-26 MIAA Academic Honor Roll, announced Wednesday, July 29, 2026 as part of a school-record 220 Hornets recognized for balancing varsity competition with at least a 3.5 GPA.

Freshman goalkeeper Simran Magnan (women's soccer), sophomore Drew Abbott (men's cross country), and freshman outfielder Joseph Treder (baseball) all made the list. All three hail from Northville.

Magnan, a Northville High School graduate, arrived at Kalamazoo after a decorated prep career. She was a four-year starting keeper for the Mustangs, recording 14 shutouts during Northville's run to the Division 1 Final Four in 2025 and earning All-State honors. She also landed on both the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 Dean's Lists at Kalamazoo.

Abbott, also a Northville native, posted a personal-best 8K time of 26:10 during the cross country season and made both semesters' Dean's Lists. Treder, a Detroit Catholic Central graduate from Northville, is studying business and made the Fall 2025 Dean's List.

The 220 Kalamazoo College honorees shattered the school's previous record of 199, set in 2024-25. Across the nine-school MIAA conference, a record 2,079 student-athletes earned the distinction, topping last year's mark of 1,970 and extending a streak of seven consecutive years with more than 1,500 honorees.

To qualify, athletes must earn a varsity letter in an MIAA-sponsored sport and maintain a 3.5 GPA or better for the full academic year, according to the MIAA's announcement. Twenty-six Kalamazoo College athletes were recognized on the honor roll all four years of their careers, per Kalamazoo College Athletics.

Magnan's women's soccer season opens in the fall, Abbott returns to the cross country course for his junior campaign, and Treder will suit up for baseball in the spring.
