Detroit Catholic Central remains No. 1 in the Detroit News Super 25 football rankings at 6-0 with three regular-season games left.

The Novi-based Shamrocks kept the top spot in the Week 7 statewide rankings, compiled by Detroit News sports reporter Brandon Folsom and published Sunday, Oct. 4. DCC beat Toledo Central Catholic 31-12 in the 82nd Annual Boys' Bowl on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Detroit Catholic Central High School in Novi.

The defending Division 1 state champions have outscored opponents 288-43 through six games, according to MaxPreps. DCC also ranks No. 2 in the Detroit Free Press Super 25 behind Detroit Cass Tech and held the No. 1 spot in the Associated Press Division 1 poll entering Week 6.

The schedule stiffens. DCC travels to Orchard Lake St. Mary's Prep on Friday, Oct. 9. St. Mary's (5-1) is ranked No. 8 in the Super 25 and is the reigning Division 2 state champion. The Shamrocks then visit Toledo St. Francis de Sales on Oct. 16 before closing the regular season against Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Northville, meanwhile, dropped out of the Super 25 entirely after losing to Dearborn Fordson 14-10 on Friday, Oct. 2. Fordson (5-1) entered the rankings at No. 24.

It was Northville's first loss of the season.

Northville still leads the Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) West at 4-0 in league play with a 5-1 overall record, per MaxPreps. The Mustangs travel to Belleville on Friday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m., then host Salem on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. before a Week 9 game on Oct. 23 against an opponent to be determined.

Single-elimination playoffs begin on Halloween weekend. DCC's Oct. 9 trip to St. Mary's and Northville's visit to Belleville are the next tests on the schedule.
