Northville Art House hosts Painting with Paws fundraiser Saturday

The Northville Art House opens its doors to dogs Saturday, Sept. 19, for its annual Painting with Paws fundraiser, where an artist will turn each pet's paw print into a finished painting.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Art House, 215 W. Cady St. An artist on site will press each dog's paw into a print and transform it into a completed piece of art. Owners can pick up the finished painting 30 minutes after their session.

The event is a fundraiser. Proceeds go to public art education programs at the Art House, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Pre-registration costs $25 per dog and is open through Friday, Sept. 18, at 11:59 p.m. on the Art House website. Walk-up registration on Saturday costs $30 per dog. One form covers up to five dogs.

Ryan Kaltenbach, the Art House's creative director, described the event in a Patch post on Sept. 16 as a chance to capture a pet's personality in art and create a keepsake owners can display at home. "Bring your pup, bring your creativity, and let's make some art together!" he wrote.

The event is listed on the City of Northville's events calendar and organized in partnership with the Northville Chamber of Commerce. The Art House is also seeking volunteers; a sign-up link is available on its website.

Painting with Paws has run annually for several years. A 2025 listing described that edition as the sixth annual event.

A dog park operated by Northville Parks and Recreation sits next to the Art House for Northville resident looking to extend the outing.
