Northville and Detroit Catholic Central are both 5-0 and ranked in the Detroit News Super 25 football poll. The Shamrocks hold the No. 1 spot. The Mustangs climbed to No. 15 after Week 5 results.

The Week 6 rankings, compiled by Detroit News reporter Brandon Folsom and published Sunday, Sept. 27, reflect results from Friday, Sept. 25. Northville (5-0) moved up one spot from No. 16 after routing Plymouth 49-14 at home. Catholic Central (5-0) stayed at No. 1 after beating Toledo St. John's Jesuit 36-3.

DCC has held the top spot in the Super 25 since the poll's first release on Aug. 30. The defending MHSAA Division 1 state champions had outscored opponents 221-28 through four games, according to the school's athletics site. They added another lopsided win Friday.

At a preseason media event in late July, DCC head coach Justin Cessante said the Shamrocks were not dwelling on last year's title. He told the Oakland Press the program's message was that the 2025 championship would not carry over, and the team was working accordingly.

Northville entered the season at No. 20 in the Super 25 and has risen steadily. The Mustangs have NFL bloodlines on the roster. Lions associate head coach Scottie Montgomery's son Cassius plays receiver. Safeties coach Jim O'Neil's son Danny plays running back.

"We're proud of them … They have worked really hard," Montgomery told the Detroit News on Sept. 8. "They're a part of a football family."

Novi had a tougher Friday. The Wildcats fell to Hartland 41-6, dropping to 4-1 on the season according to the Super 25. Hartland (4-1) moved up to No. 14 in the poll.

Both area programs return to action this week. Northville travels to Dearborn Fordson on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. Catholic Central hosts Toledo Central Catholic on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. Novi heads to Belleville on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m.
