A new 5K race anchors the 2026 Rock Out at Pink Out in Novi on Oct. 4. The addition expands the annual breast cancer awareness event into a daylong gathering at Twelve Mile Crossing at Fountain Walk, 44175 W. Twelve Mile Road.

The Pink Out 5K starts at 9 a.m. with a professionally timed course winding through Fountain Walk, as C&G Newspapers first reported. Runners pay $47 to enter. A 1-mile walk option costs $25. Every participant receives a custom T-shirt and a finisher medal, and a portion of race proceeds benefits the Henry Ford Providence Believe in Miracles Fund.

Event organizer Mary Lederman said the 5K gives people a new, active way to take part and turns Pink Out into a full day of music and community purpose. She told C&G Newspapers she wanted the event to offer something for everyone, whether they run, walk, sign the pink police car, attend the concert or show up dressed in pink.

That afternoon, the Love Junkies play a free concert from 3 to 6 p.m. Face painting and games round out the schedule alongside the music.

The Novi Police Department's pink cruiser returns as well. Attendees can sign the car with messages honoring a loved one affected by breast cancer. The City of Novi said on X that a donation of $5 or more is required to sign. Prize drawings will be held among signers.

Kim Kleimola, a Novi Police Department member and breast cancer survivor, told C&G Newspapers she welcomes the expanded format. "I think it's really exciting all the changes that they are making, and how they are trying to advance this," Kleimola said.

The event has been an annual fixture at Fountain Walk. A city webpage for a similar Pink Out held in October 2023 listed the beneficiary under the Ascension Providence Hospital name. The 2026 event names the Henry Ford Providence Believe in Miracles Fund.
