Steve Mezzadri, Northville Public Schools' network engineer for the past eight years, will lead the district's technology operations after the Board of Education unanimously approved his promotion to Director of Technology.

The board voted at its Tuesday, Sept. 22, regular meeting, with HR liaison Ron Frazier presenting the hire. The district announced the appointment Thursday, Sept. 24.

For Northville families, the hire puts an eight-year district employee in charge of cybersecurity, classroom learning tools, data management, network infrastructure and long-term technology planning across the district.

Mezzadri brings more than 20 years of educational technology leadership. Before joining Northville, he worked as a senior network analyst at Wayne RESA, where he supported technology systems across nine Wayne County school districts, according to the district.

He also served as a network administrator for Livonia Public Schools. He holds a bachelor of science in computer science with a minor in mathematics from Eastern Michigan University. He also holds certifications from Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco and Apple.

"I take pride in building systems that people can depend on," Mezzadri said in the district's announcement. "Success depends not only on technical expertise, but also on building strong relationships and leading with empathy, patience, and a positive attitude."

Superintendent RJ Webber called Mezzadri "a gift to Northville Public Schools," praising his work ethic and his focus on safe use of educational technology.

The district selected Mezzadri through a process that included a stakeholder interview committee of district staff, families and community members.

The promotion comes as Northville Public Schools rolls out a new device and email policy for the 2026–27 school year. Under a state law Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed Feb. 10, K-8 students are restricted from using personal devices during instructional time. The district is issuing every student a school Chromebook. Managing that rollout and the cybersecurity demands that come with it will fall under Mezzadri's responsibilities.

No official start date for Mezzadri in the director role has been announced. Families can find details on the district's new device and email restrictions on the Northville Public Schools website.
